A lot has happened since March 25th. For one thing, we started another school term: the last one this year. The main highlight of this term is the big class trip that the Senior class (and their sponsors) take to Mombasa every year. On Friday, 30 May, we loaded two charter buses at 5 a.m. and began our 12-hour trip over what must surely be some of the worst roads in Kenya to finally arrive at the luxurious Whitesands Resort on the Indian Ocean. What followed was four days of relaxing and swimming and laughing and making memories. The students had terrific attitudes and we had a minimum of problems (one snakebite, but it wasn’t venomous, thankfully).
My Caring Community has been a highlight for me throughout this school year. This is a group of six Senior girls who come to my house for dinner once a month and for the evening three times a term. They light up my life!
One of my other favourite things to do is to lead the music ministry team. This year the team is called Adoleo. We practice together twice a week and I teach them Sunday School. We still have FIVE performances ahead before the end of the school year, including one tomorrow. So that has definitely been keeping me busy.
The entire team, including the band members and sound-girl.
Practicing around the piano.Aside from these usual responsibilities, I am trying to get my stuff packed and my thank-yous and goodbyes taken care of. How do you pack up three years of your life into three pieces of luggage?? Well, first of all, you don’t leave it to the last minute. One bag is already packed and two are half-full. I’m sure there will be a lot of frustration and stress and tears during that last week when I have to decide what to leave and what to take with me. But what I know I won’t be leaving behind are all the wonderful memories and lessons I’ve gathered through these past few years. Those I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.

Heather.. I keep forgetting that you can only bring back 3 suitcases.. I don't think I could manage that either! However, I have a furnished bedroom here for ya and my closet is your closet. I can't wait for you to come back to good 'ol SK.
Awe. That WOULD be hard. And that last line was just sappy enough to make me feel weepy. Hugs to you and many prayers and lots of love.
I love you Heather! I know it will be hard leaving so much behind but all of us in Canada just can't wait to see you again :) Oh, and about my blog...I do have an excuse - we've been moving, renovating, and unpacking FOREVER! When that's done I'm sure I'll have time to add something :)
